This lovely place is located just north of the McMahon Line, where the Yarlung Tsangpo/Brahmaputra enters the Indian territory (Upper Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh).
Last year, I had mentioned the tunnel built by the PLA to open up the area to 'tourism' and ...the troops of the Liberation Army.
Considering that Tibet is closed for tourism for at least one month, I seriously doubt that anybody got the permission to spend the Valentine Day in Metok. Such a pity!
But, if you have the patience to wait 3 or 4 years, you will be able to take a train ride from Lhasa (at least to Nyingtri, the Prefecture headquarters). Even more romantic!

Want to spend a unique Valentine's Day with the one you love? Want to get rid of the routine ways of holding roses and walking on places without surprises?
Metok is the answer.
Located southeast of Tibet Autonomous Region, Metok County is surrounded by high mountains in four sides. With an altitude of 1,200 meters, Metok has long drawn attention due to its plentiful rainfall, various wildlife and lush greenery in all seasons.
Take the one you love to enjoy the snow-capped mountains and the imposing Yarlung Tsangpo Canyon, taste the traditional Tibetan food such as buttered tea and highland barley wine, and make your love experience more unforgettable and unique.
